I just played a hockey game and didn’t realize it was a playoff game ’til after it was over! Not only does half the team not show up … but here we are with the lead taking it easy and then all of a sudden we’re down a goal and I’m still taking it easy.
I will forever wonder if knowing would have actually made a difference.
Between reading Moneyball (it’s been a while since I’ve read something that I find this difficult to put down), playing Resident Evil FIVE!, watching amateurs play guitar on youtube, hockey three times a week, and a couple of big projects I’m working on at work and home, I was still able to fit in some Hotdoc films with Miranda.
Let’s Make Money – Austrian documentary about the ravenous pursuit of wealth by Eastern countries and the World Bank with absolute disregard for anything else, leaving Third World states in a constant downward eddy of their own unrepayable debt.
Quite long-winded and slightly boring, with the only really interesting tidbit being a review of the Spanish housing bubble. Other interesting tidbits included why the US dollar is so important – because it serves as an oil standard, and how the offshore accounts of Jersey damage Third World profit.

I’m not really a fan of country music but after Miranda let me borrow her Taylor Swift CD, since I have pretty much overplayed all the CDs currently in my car, I embarrassingly admit that I’ve become a fan. Even though all her songs are about very teenage things, there’s a certain honesty and maturity in her lyrics and her voice ain’t bad.
So after 40 plus hours of GTA IV in-game play, plus countless more hours playing on-line, I finally noticed this shop beside the comedy club in Algonquin:
